Cabin in Mackinaw

Some people have been asking to see pictures of my husband's family (my husband and his two brothers now own the place) cabin in Mackinaw, Michigan. My brother-in-law Al has been spending the whole summer getting the place cleaned up and ready for the family reunion in August. The deck area is really the back of the house (and the family's favorite hang out spot) that looks out on to Lake Michigan. Looks like they mowed down (or had a herd of goats come in) all the wild grass and weeds that use to grow out back. Not sure Ruthie (my mother-in -law) would have liked that, she was a big nature fan but it does give you a clear view of the lake. If the grass is not cut back (it can get over 5 feet tall) there would be no beach area. Maybe Al is hoping those nasty geese will waddle up close enough for him to shoot for dinner.

You made me homesick there for a minute, since I'm from up in that area. Don't cut that beach grass too short though, it's the only thing holding the beach together. Cut it so it dies out and the beach erodes from wave action. Nice cabin though. Mackinaw's a lot of fun. Have some fudge for me.

Oh Lisa - this could SO work for our next CJ retreat. I've got plans running through my head on how we could do this here next summer!
I'm not giving up on getting you all to Michigan! I can show you a grand time too!

The cabin is in a very nice spot but once you arrive at the airport, it takes another day of driving to get to it. You would spend half your time getting to the cabin and then heading back to the airport than we would be spending at the cabin. You will also be doing the Michigan wave (slapping away bugs) whenever you go outside.

How beautiful! I used to live in Ann Arbor and we went to Mackinaw Island every summer. What a wonderful summer place.
