Bees in Nepal

One of the things that surprised me while we were hiking up the other side of the valley was to walk though what the locals call the "bee village". Being a urban bee keeper I just had to stop and take some picture. The bee keeper went up and whacked at his hive. I can only guessing so the bees would be a little more active for me. They harvest the honey twice a year once in October (I had just missed it) and again in January. They get about 2 liters of honey. I'm not sure if they use the beeswax since that part of the translation wasn't understood by the guide that was with me.
