Carmel House
One of my favorite things about the Carmel house is the fireplace. Since it was turn into gas and sealed behind glass, it's perfect. Keep the front of the house a constant temperature even when no one is here. That has reduce the mold smell at least in the front part of the house. It's not that I sit in front of the fireplace but it does make the house comfy. The Carmel house also has floor to ceiling windows in all the rooms. I'm sure the design was to let in all the sunshine possible. Not really too concerned with heating the house back in the 40's. When I remodeled my home years ago I did opt to take out the fireplace. People thought I was nuts. I wanted more wall space and wood burning fireplaces back then were slowly being coming not so PC. Of course the major attraction is the beach.
