Learned something new today

For many years I've sold these type of things but never really knew what it for. Maybe a fancy jam jar or food storage?

I saw one on WN for sale and she called it a coddler. I decided to look it up and I was very surprised to find out it was an English egg poaching thingy. I'm not a fan of poached eggs because it's a messy (at least for me) cooking method and it leaves a lot of water on your plate. I'm also not much of an egg person. 

After finding out what it was, I decided  to give it a try. Have to say it's not only easy to use but there isn't a whole lot of mess to clean up. Now I have to decided if I have space for it in my tiny kitchen.
