Paper Stash Round Up

Related Posts with ThumbnailsMemories Live On is having a paper crafter's flea market.  I decided to bite the bullet and package up all my scrapbooking paper (it has taken over 3 days) that I haven't looked at in years and sell it all off.  So far I've bagged up two feet (yes, 24 inches) of paper.  I still have a few more piles to sort but a least the bulk of it is done. I'm selling the bundles off super cheap, so stop on by and check it out. June 25 -27, 2010

In the garden

Having to keep Annie home and quiet after her surgery has not been an easy task.  So far several pairs of shoes (hubby doesn't remember to put his away) have been chewed on, the recycle bin tossed twice, Related Posts with ThumbnailsSqueak (the kitten) has been chased around the house non stop, four cardboard boxes torn apart and every area rug corner has been chewed.
In an effort to keep the whole house from being chewed down to the ground, I went and worked out in the garden. Of course working in the garden with Annie is a challenge too.  She likes to "help" at every turn.
A friend is working on his own variety of tomatoes and gave us several to plant in our garden. It's time to get them in the ground.
Can't wait until we can start our daily walks again.

Annie's big day at the vet's

The house is very quiet and Squeak is wondering why she hasn't had to run under the tables. I took Annie into the vet's this morning to get fixed.  Annie jumped out of the car as soon as I opened the door at the vet's office. She ran to the front door, wagging her tail like a crazy dog.  Guess she thought this was going to be a general visit with tons hugs from the staff and then come home with me. I felt so guilty leaving my baby there knowing what was going to be happening in the backroom.  This could be one reason so many people don't get their dogs fixed.  Once Annie is home, she will have two weeks of limited exercise. I'm not looking forward to telling her (after this whole hospital stay) she can't chase the squirrels or play fetch while out on our walks.  It's time to break out the vacuum and get the big housework done without Annie wanting to help.

Beeswax and Squeak

When you have bees, you also have to deal with the wax.  I finally got around to filtering the wax and pouring it into a mold.  This is my very first candle, which is much bigger than it looks.  Squeak is only 1.5 pounds so I'm guess they both weigh the same.  The second candle is got stuck in the mold and I'm now researching how to get it out.

Paper Crafter's Flea Market

Related Posts with ThumbnailsMemories Live On in Cupertino is hosting crafter's flea market on June 25-27, 2010.  This is a great event to sell off those crafting supplies you don't use and pick up some supplies at rock bottom prices.  Memories is making it easier by providing bar codes for everyone selling.  Yes, you have to be a little more organized when you bring your stuff in, but there won't be any confusion when you check out. Here's the link to the sign up form

Puppies and Kittens

It is a busy time around my house. Having a puppy (Annie is now 5 months old) and a kitten under foot makes walking around the house a slow process.  I also have auction items lining the hallway waiting to be tagged and taken into the store.Related Posts with Thumbnails  Squeaker is two pounds soaking wet but she is holding her own with Annie's 50 plus pounds when they play.  I should say when Annie wants to play. Squeaker doesn't like getting slapped with paw so she makes sure there is a table to run under when things get too rough.
Now that Annie is getting older, I have to walk and throw the stick for at least two hours, twice a day.  If I don't, I have a very hyper dog in the house. She is also getting more protective on our trail walks.  She is doing the famous "on guard" German Shepherd bark if a man walks between me and her while on her leash. She has been trained to always be on outside when someone walks by. A lot of people (mainly men) think it's safer to walk by on my side, further away from the dog but protective dogs don't like that.

Vintage Cameras - Auction

Related Posts with ThumbnailsIt was a very long night at the auction house last yesterday.  It's been a long time since I've stayed all the way to the end.  Got home around midnight and had to get up at 5:30 this morning to take Annie for her walk.  I did get some really cool stuff for my antique booths.  I will be spending the rest of the day polishing silver, washing crystal vase and tagging everything.

Birthday Party

Related Posts with Thumbnails
Some photos from the "Quad's" birthday party this past weekend. Ty (my great-nephew) has a lot of food allergies.  His mom asked us to make a cupcake out of red vine licorice.  It's not easy to make the licorice do want you want it to do and still have it safe for a two-year old.  You can't use toothpicks to hold it together.  Evan my daughter made jello cupcakes as a back up in case the licorice creation got rejected.

2010 Mother's Day Flowers

Related Posts with ThumbnailsIt was a busy Mother's Day at our house. I was asked to make a cupcake out of Red Vine licorice for one of my great-nephews who has food allergies.  It was the quad's birthday p(four babies born within months of each other) party today.  My daughter Evan handed off this assignment to me at the last minute when she realized that it wasn't as easy as it sounded.  She did have a great back up plan  and made Jello cupcakes.  Jello poured into the paper cupcake cups.  I thought this was a great idea for kids who can't have dairy or eggs.  The birthday babies all get a cupcake with a candle in it, so we had to have something for Ty.
I forgot to take a picture of the licorice cupcake but I thought it turned out pretty cute.

Meet Squeak Our New Fur Baby

Related Posts with Thumbnails
This is our new fur baby Miss Squeak.  She is 6 weeks old and part Ragdoll.  Mom was a purebred but got out while in heat.  Only time will tell if  Miss Squeak will have any of the Ragdoll traits.  She is laughing in one of the photos but she hasn't met Annie or Mr. Purrcy yet.  Squeak was born into a family with little children and a hyper dog so she is use to a lot of activity. It was important to me for Annie to grow up with her very own cat.  Annie doesn't have a strong small prey drive, which is a good thing.  Mr. Purrcy made sure Annie knew cats rule the house.

Soap Making

Related Posts with ThumbnailsThe bee guild had a guest speaker on Monday who makes homemade soap.  You may be wondering what soap and bees have in common. You can use both honey and bees wax in your soap.  It was pretty interesting, especially all the caution around using lye.  Who knew that something when fresh could burn your skin off would later turn into soap.  With a new puppy in the house I don't think I will be making any soap anytime soon.  Annie is a good girl but she does have her moments and at 50 pounds she is not easy to ignore.
